Ultimate peace and privacy. Nestled in juniper-wooded hills with sweeping views. Close to Albuquerque (20 minutes) and Santa Fe (40 minutes) but feels like a secluded retreat. Most people have no problem finding my place by entering my address in their GPS. However, I have had 2 HipCampers report their GPS directed them to a road called Camino de las Brisas or Las Brisas Loop. Turning here will lead you to a steep, dangerous road where it will be very difficult to turn around if you're in an RV and impossible with a trailer. Continue on Camino de Las Huertas to Senda Osa Vieja. It's marked with a street sign, a stone monument with brass plate. There's also a blue "private road" sign with a dragon. This land was purchased in 1956 by my archeologist parents because of the ancient pueblo site (dating from 1000 A.D.) and pit house sites (dating from 800 A.D.) Until the mega drought seriously impacted the land, a stream ran through it year round. Now it is only intermittent. Across the valley from this property, and within view of the campsite, is the site of a Spanish Colonial village, San Jose de las Huertas. It dates from the 1700s and is now owned by the Archeological Conservancy. This area is rich in history both Native American and Spanish. Within a 10 minute drive are popular mountain biking trails. Petroglyphs are a 20 minute, moderately strenuous hike from property. Very peaceful, quiet and safe. Beautiful
I loved driving out into Placitas, very beautiful. The owner communicated well about details. The land was amazing. Very cool that there was water and electrical outlets. It was peaceful and the sunset/sunrise were beautiful. The only thing was that I didn't realize it was so close to the house and I didn't find the hiking exciting.

Peace and quiet in the high desert
Lovely perch in the high desert with water and household current for comfort. Susan has one large site overlooking the foothills of the mountains with no shade but sunny cool mornings and peaceful nights. There was almost always a breeze and sometimes a stiff wind. One night, we watched a full moon climb over the mountains and flood the area with a gold light. We stayed 4 nights in a small RV and were very comfortable. Road access is easy, 30 minutes to ABQ and internet access an 8-minute drive to the local library. No dump so plan accordingly. Susan is charming and a great host.

EXCELLENT Hipcamp! Located on an open property in the outskirts of alberqueue in a charming little village. Stars are very clear and hosts were very polite and nice. Stayed with a couple cars and ground tents. Very even for setting up your tent

Quiet Outskirts of Albuquerque
We had great views and a peaceful night's sleep. A nice, quiet spot only a few minutes from Albuquerque.

Great location. Windy area if you’re in a tent brining your stakes and tie downs. Wild horses roaming the area. We heard coyotes howling and whining all night. Susan was very nice and greeted us when we arrived. Not much privacy from the main household.

Historic site, natural beauty
This is truly a choice site. Between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, you have beautiful vistas to look out over and all the privacy and hook ups you need (except sewer … no big deal). Susan is an incredibly gracious host, and we appreciated the detailed directions to guide us to this historic site. Be sure to learn more about it while you’re there … it’s a gem that few people get to see. We only wish we’d had another day to explore. And, while Susan was so kind to allow our dog to be off leash, he wore out his welcome when he approached her home and dog inside. It’s a challenging surrounding terrain as well, so keep your doggos (and everyone else!) safely on leash.
